Kenyo finds a mission

I just finished reading a book: Kenyo finds a mission a few days ago. It's a a parable about Kenyo, a young donkey who searches for meaning to his life. Although it could be categorized as children book, I think the adults still could enjoy it. When I read the synopsis, I didn't think something special Kenyo, but when I reached the middle chapter, I started to guess who Kenyo is actually.. and it is like what I thought.
He is indeed a special donkey, who thinks that he has no purpose in life but then God shows him that he has a big mission in his life, just like what his grandfather did.
So in the end, yes, Kenyo finally finds his mission.

Speaking about mission, I'm still not sure how we could know our mission.
Have thought about it several times in life, but still no clue.
Is it something we go after or is it something given?
From Kenyo's story above, it's like something given (by God). But how could we recognize it? hmm

Nevertheless, we'll perhaps just try to set our mission until He gives us one.
How about helping other people reach their dreams?
Sounds heavy.. but we could start from something.
For instances: to let mom and dad get their dreams (something they never did or had because of us), to let someone focus on his dream for having a company and retiring at 35, to sponsor a child, or to help someone finding his soul mate =).
Or being a surrogate mother. I was thinking about that when I heard someone close to me having pregnancy problem.

But hey, everything is possible in our mind.
The next important thing is how we're going to do it.

Ski Oh Ski..

Kemarin akhirnya jadi juga pergi maen ski (utk pertama kalinya) di Blackforest.
Hasilnya? Lumayan lah buat hasil hari pertama nyobain ski..

Lessons learned nya apa?

1.
Jangan pernah minjem boot+ski tanpa datang sendiri ke tempat rentalnya buat nyobain.
Yg ada tar ga bener hasilnya. Kemaren semua peralatan ski gue yg ngurusin, gak taunya gue salah ngambil nomor boot. Lupa atau kacau tepatnya.
Pokoknya gue ga bakal mau lagi deh disuruh ngurusin pinjem2 peralatan ski.. masing2 ngurus sendiri2 aja :)

2.
Belajar ski itu ternyata kyk belajar berenang. Lu mesti berani.. kalo takut, ga bakal bisa2.
Tapi ski masih lebih mending sih daripada renang. Kalo lu takut paling nabrak atau jatuh. Kalo renang, lu takut ya tenggelam hehe..

3.
Maen ski sebagai pemula itu = maen ski sambil hiking. Maksudnya, karena belum berani naek lift (karena tinggi banget), akhirnya mesti jalan kaki naek ke atas bukit sambil gotong2 ski-nya..
Mana ski nya lumayan berat juga. Badan pegel2 bukan karena maen ski nya, tapi gara2 bolak balik gotong ski ke atas.. kyk gini:

Jadi apa hasil belajar ski-nya?
Bisa meluncur tanpa nabrak/jatuh dari jarak ca. 100 m dgn kemiringan ca. 30° hehe.. :P

Tar next winter nyoba lagi ah..

then...... I'm looking forward to learning skiing this weekend!!! yipiieee!! =D

Saturday - Fastnacht

Kemarin sempet jalan-jalan di city center, ngeliat acara Fastnacht di sini. Seperti biasa, banyak orang yg pakai kostum. Tapi kalau diperhatikan, kebanyakan mereka berkelompok dan pakai kostum yg sama dalam 1 kelompok/group itu. Ada group yg kecil, ada yg besar. Biasanya group yg besar juga bawa alat-alat musik seperti drum, terompet, tuba - alat2 musik yg biasa dipakai di marching band.

Kemarin aku liat ada 3 panggung. Tiap2 group gantian tampil di panggung. Lumayan juga lagu2 yg mereka bawain. Bukan volksong/lagu rakyat jerman, tapi justru lagu2 barat 80's (kemarin sempet denger lagu Africa -nya Toto.. :)) Mayan juga dengernya..
Setelah tampil di panggung yg satu, trus mereka jalan ke panggung lainnya sambil main musik (ala parade gitu).
Anggota groupnya gak cuman orang2 dewasa, tapi ada juga anak2 / remaja. Jadi dari anak2 sampe bapak ibu. Gak ngerti juga gimana bentuk groupnya ini, apa mereka bentuk perkumpulan, atau itu satu keluarga atau gimana. Hmm.. boleh juga besok aku tanya ke temen kantor.

Aku sempet liat penampilan 2 group di panggung besar. Lagu2nya ok, meriah deh. Tapi ada yg agak aneh. Kenapa ya muka para pemain musiknya kok gak ada yg senyum..? :) aku jadi heran gitu.. musiknya asik, harusnya yg maen jg ikut merasa asik ya. Tapi ini enggak gitu keliatan. Aku doang yg senyum2 sendiri menikmati musiknya.
Na ja.. mungkin emang orang Jerman nya kyk gitu ya. They'll smile when they're drunk =)

Horse

Gara-gara baca mp nya Qoniet, jadi iseng baca2 tentang horoskop China.. terus nemu 1 website yg bilang gini tentang kuda:

the Simple truths of life

Just wanna share that link. Lessons learned for today.

Oh. I still have some other lessons learned =)

1. time management is really important if you have to take the bus during hard winter time (temperature is minus something °C..). To know that the bus will definitely come late is not enough. You have to predict how late it will be, so you'll be just in time arriving at the bus stop. How could you do that? I don't know.. let me know if you know =D
2. I know now when my body creates an alert message for my hand and feet when they're starting to freeze while I'm waiting at the bus stop: after 20 minutes.
3. ph measurement system consists of: ph Sensor, cable, assembly/installation, and transmitter. NOW I KNOW the different between ph Transmitter and ph Sensor and how they look .. haha.. *after 1.5 years working in this company :p* - memalukan. training pegawai baru yg dulu kayaknya ga ada bekasnya hehe -

I did the e-learning module about pH measurement today.. a bit scary for some parts because suddenly after a decade I saw again some equations which were written on the textbook or classroom whiteboard :p
AND this is only fundamental training. I cannot imagine if I have to take the next level of this training.. - but hey, I passed the test.. that's the most important for now ;)

This kind of things were exactly the reasons why I chose to learn computer science.
Mipa bukan, teknik bukan, FE apalagi :)

Next week: the fundamental of flow measurement
Then the following week: the fundamental of installed base audit
Then: working intercultural
Followed by.. hmm.. forget. Profibus, Fieldbus Fondation or Hart training. hmm one of them..
Then.. let see :)

Last lesson learned:
Find something new to learn, in the middle of situation where you feel down, demotivated, confused, and useless. You at least get something.

I Hate Powerpoint when it's hanged! :(
Something's really wrong here.. either the laptop, the powerpoint application or the files.. hhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
it's just too often!

anyway, maybe it's time to stop working.

A dear friend of mine just told me today that she's going to baptize her daughter next Sunday. Unfortunately I won't be there. And she told me, if I were there, she would have asked me to be the GODMOTHER...!! woww... what an honor.. I'd really love to.. (well, since I've never been one and none of my friends ever asked me..)
I wish I could be there.. but na ja.. sometimes wish is just a wish..
Hopefully I still could be her second child's godmother hehehe.. (note: the second child is not even made yet, but I told my friend so ;))

Speaking of wishes, does anyone want to see Michael Buble's concert? (either in Netherlands, Germany or Switz) *desperate mode on*
It used to be on my 2010 wish list, but as I said before, maybe some wishes will always remain wishes.

Fiuhh.. I'm not (yet) shoeacholic!

Pingin ngaku. Kemaren beli sepatu lagi, pdhl baru minggu lalu beli. Abis itu langsung mikir, apa gue dah berlebihan ya :( (Abis gara2 nemu sepatu murah dan bagus.. tinggal satu pula. Jadi dibeli deh, biarpun ga bisa dipake di musim kayak gini.)

Untuk meyakinkan apa gue udah berlebihan, iseng2 cari tau apa gue dah termasuk shoeacholic..
fiuhh.. untungnya ternyata belum hehe.. *menurut tulisan yg gue baca di internet*
Lega deh skrg. Abis ini ga boleh beli2 lagi deh hehe..

Ada yg senasib ga? (gue suka beli sepatu, tp jarang bisa punya yg bener2 enak.. mungkin itu jadinya suka beli mulu ya?)

Sampe skrg sepatu barunya blum berani ditaruh di tempat sepatu, takut housemate gue geleng2..

Eh eh..

baru inget.. di sini hari Senin besok (tgl 15 Feb) libur lho.. *mo bikin ngiri yg di utara ;)*

Minggu depan udah mulai lagi musim karnaval di sini, sampai sebelum hari rabu abu (tgl 17 Feb).
Anehnya, Basel yg letaknya gak jauh dari sini ternyata punya tanggalan sendiri utk acara karnavalnya. Fastnacht mereka baru mulai seminggu setelah Jerman (jadi setelah tgl 17 Feb mereka masih karnaval).. ga tau gmn itung2annya. Kyknya sih ga ada hubungannya sama rabu abu.

Terus 2 hari yg lalu, 1 temen kantor (yg ternyata orang Basel asli) ngasih tau tentang karnaval di Liestal. Liestal ini ibukota-nya Basel land (propinsi Basel, bukan kota Basel nya), letaknya gak jauh dr kota Basel. Nah, dia bilang karnaval di Liestal ini terkenal banget karena mereka pake api2 gitu.
Acaranya dimulai sehari sebelum karnaval di kota Basel.

Karnaval di Basel sendiri selalu mulainya hari Senin, jam 4 pagi. Gelap2 dan tau2 gedebum gedebum suara musik karnaval.. Belum pernah liat sih, abis mesti cuti + kalo mesti pergi jam 4 pagi hmmm...

Monthly Drink

Drinking 2 glasses of (Heineken) beer right away after office hour was not a good decision.
Or perhaps the way I drank was not right.
*I think I just glup glup the last half of the glass.. hmm.. too dizzy to remember.. *
