Today I have my first exam, after last time I did it almost 4 years ago when I was in Bachelor degree..
(hmm.. I just think what was my last exam at that time.. )
And my first exam is for Strategic Management class..
I should tell you the story about this course and its exam.
Although it’s one subject course, but actually it’s taught in 2 classes separately.
One is Strategic Management A, discusses about the Cost Accounting, and taught by Prof Mundt.
It’s not a hard topic to learn, although it has many formulas and we have to know which case use which formula..
As long as you’re clear enough about the case, know the meaning of each term and how they work, then you can solve the problem.
It’s an interesting topic, I guess.
Now I know that it’s not so simple to calculate costs, revenue, and profit if someday I have a factory.. hehe..
How about its exam?
It’s not very difficult (hopefully I’m right.. my answers are right, I mean.. hihihi.. :p)
But you have to do it carefully (in doing calculation especially), and also have to do it fast..
The other is Strategic Management B.
It discusses about general strategic management (besides cost accounting), like business environment, SWOT analysis, competitors, portfolio analysis, etc.
My opinion, it’s really a good topic to learn..
If you ever worked in management area, perhaps you will understand.
The problem is, (the only one and unluckly is the biggest one) this course is not taught by an expert or experienced person in this field..
So everytime I attend this class, I think:
- more than 50% of students in the class have no idea what she’s talking about
- 99,9% of students have difficulty to recognize her hand writing on slides or blackboard at the very first time they see it
- it’s the most quiet class I ever attend.. it looks like we spend more than 75% of our time in silent.. only the lecturer speaks, explains, and asks without no one is eager to answer her questions…
Even you can hear sounds from someone’s empty stomach (I ever told about this, right? :p)
It’s unbelievable..
But that’s okay.. we can not always expect to get everything exactly like we want, right?
That’s what I learn from this course.
As long as you like to learn it, just learn by yourself..
(easy to say but difficult to do.. hehehe.. just like I push myself to buy a Java book in order to start learning it, but until now it hasn’t worked properly yet.. hehe.. but I promise I will do.. :p)
Back to Strategic Management B..its exam is.. hmm.. how to say.. well.. you have so many topics where you have to remember all, and maybe only less than 20% of those topics comes up in the exam.. and badly I can’t even remember the answers for those questions completely..
Just write some parts I remember and leave the other parts blank..
Thank God I didn’t finish to remember all of them.. because I will regret then.. hehehehehe..
We do the exam in a Corum, a big room that has a lot of stair-chairs..don’t know how to explain it.. it’s like a movie theather..
We sit two chair between one another, and one empty rows between.
After 2 hours answering the questions, we have to submit all the answers and questions papers..
No one allow to bring the question paper.
And we have to write our name and matriculation number on each paper that we use..
If you use 10 pages, then you have to write your name 10 times..
What else should I tell.. hmm..
That’s all I guess.
After that, we (I and Kobua) end up ourselves at the backery.. drink hot caffee and eat choco croissant.. my favourite one..
Today’s weather: damn cold!
Today’s menu: haven’t decided yet.. some french fries perhaps.
